SKORTS –
OK, so these arenโtย technicallyย skirts, but if they look like skirts from the outsideโฆ Said to be inspired by the practicality-minded design of tennis uniforms, skorts conceal an inner secret: a pair of form-fitting shorts that will serve you to no end. One of the smartest wardrobe innovations of recent times, they combine a breezy, feminine appearance with practicality. If you follow me on IG you may have come across the one that I had paired with the fluorescent collar neck during my visit to Italy. Whether youโre cycling across town, caught crossing an updraft, or simply keen to avoid the indignity of chafing, these pieces offer comfort, functionality and โ thanks to their typically teensy-tiny hems โ sass in equal measure.
THE DENIM MINI SKIRT –
If we had to choose a single skirt that will never truly go out of style, the denim miniskirt would be a hot contender. Denim skirts were my go-to back in 2008-9, if I recall all my pictures of that time, it’s mostly the shirts paired with denim skirts. And I guess nothing has changed in terms of my personal styling lol. check my IG page and you will know it:) Summer after summer, New York’s parks fill with women pulling theirs from the back of the wardrobe. Whether high-waisted or low-slung, in dark or stone wash, the denim miniskirt is easily one of the most practical alternatives to a pair of shorts. This year, we’re witnessing a pronounced โ90s inflection as to how theyโre being styled, often sported with heeled flip-flops and minimalist tops that transform a timeless classic into something effortlessly current.
THE CROCHET MINI SKIRT –
Every summer has its signature fabric, and this year, weโre all about crochet. After all, what better way to instantly evoke an effortless holiday mood than with a crochet miniskirt? With its nods to the โ70s and boho aesthetic, this is a piece that works as naturally in รฉcru and sand tones as it does in rainbow hues. Better still, it pairs easily with bikinis, simple tank tops and linen shirts, making it the ideal choice for anyone seeking a relaxed yet personality-packed look infused with artisanal charm.
THE “GRANNY” MINI SKIRT –
Among the more intriguing trends to catch our eye this season is the return of the so-called granny miniskirt: high-hemmed pieces rich in embroidery and artisanal flourishes that youโd more likely expect to find on your grandmotherโs tablecloth. Typically made from lightweight cotton or linen, they are often distinguished by contrasting inserts, openwork edges and small, considered details that highlight their romantic character. Though imbued with a delicately retro charm, they are best worn with a contemporary flair โ paired with a simple ribbed tank top or an oversized menโs shirt, for example.
BOHO MINI SKIRTS –
We know that you know that boho is bang on trend, but that wonโt stop us banging the drum anyway. Lightweight and full of movement thanks to ruffles, flounces and draped, sheer fabrics, weโre particular fans of pastel shades and bold brights that evoke natural hues โ whether nodding to the sea, sunsets, or tropical flowers. Theyโre the sorts of pieces that effortlessly slip into a holiday wardrobe, packed along with a micro top, an embroidered vest or a favourite swimsuit.
THE BUBBLE MINI SKIRT –
But if I were to pick out a winning novelty of the season, it would be the abbreviated bubble skirt. Featuring a gathered volume at the hem, these pieces have a subtly inflated silhouette that creates a fun-filled sense of whimsy โ notย tooย whimsical, though. Ultimately, the success of the bubble miniskirt lies in its ability to exude elegance without being predictable โ as attested by the eclectic array of pieces it pairs well with: form-fitting bodysuits, simple tops and flat sandals.
That’s All:)
